Crewsaver launches new ocean sailing lifejacket

Black Ergofit 250N lifejacket from Crewsaver

Crewsaver, a leader in high-performance survival technology, has launched the ErgoFit 290N lifejacket for offshore and ocean sailing.

The ErgoFit 290N integrates the best features from Crewsaver’s product range and is designed with a low-profile and highly functional construction. With a slightly longer cover design that reduces bulk, the ErgoFit 290N provides a comfortable, flexible fit across a wide range of body types.

The wide-neck design accommodates high-collared hooded jackets, preventing any push against the back of the neck – even when wearing foul-weather gear. A low-profile, load-bearing front buckle ensures reliable harness use and features a quick-release mechanism, allowing the lifejacket to be easily donned, even when wearing gloves.

The lifejacket features Crewsaver’s industry-first halo hood system, which, alongside the shape of the inflated bladder, is designed to significantly reduce the risk of water inhalation and heat loss. This double halo construction is engineered to provide enhanced airway protection by creating a self-supporting spray hood that forms a spacious cavity above the wearer’s face. The internal panel serves as an anti-glare shield to guard the wearer’s eyes from the lifejacket light.

The ErgoFit 290N is fitted with Crewsaver’s patented Exolok cylinder retention system for added protection. Exolok holds a lifejacket cylinder securely in position and clearly indicates if it moves, becomes unscrewed, or is tampered with.

Christopher Cox, general manager at Crewsaver, says: “With the ErgoFit 290N, our goal was to set a new benchmark for lifejackets designed for open water. By integrating advanced airway protection, exceptional comfort, and ease of use, this lifejacket reflects our commitment to elevating safety standards, providing wearers with dependable performance they can trust in the most challenging conditions.”

A foiling dinghy glides on the water, showcasing high-performance equipment, alongside Pro-Set's epoxy solutions for composite manufacturing.
