New voice alert safety system rolls out
Galvanic Works has opened pre-orders for Galvanic Voice, its intelligent voice alert system for sailors on pleasure sailing boats, with units due for delivery in Q4 2026.
Galvanic Voice integrates together AIS collision avoidance, automatic man overboard detection, anchor watch, crew watch management and boat system monitoring into a single unit. Operating across five languages, the unit delivers more than 500 contextual, spoken alerts to provide crews with real-time situational data and clear, actionable instructions.
Key features:
- AIS collision intelligence – closing vessels announced with bearing, distance and time to collision.
- Automatic man overboard detection – ten-second detection using the included Galvanic Pulse bracelets, no button to press, with relative bearing and distance spoken aloud.
- Zero-config anchor watch – auto-detects when the boat is at anchor.
- Crew watch management – sleep-aware schedules and fatigue-sensitive check-ins.
- Boat systems monitoring – battery, bilge, depth and autopilot voiced when they matter.
- Five languages at launch – English, Spanish, French, Italian and German.
Example alerts spoken by the system include:
‘Warning: wind speed has exceeded 30 knots. Action required.’
‘Alert. Commercial vessel collision risk, alter to starboard. Relative bearing 045 degrees. Distance 2.8 nautical miles. CPA 0.1 nautical miles. Time to collision six minutes.’
Natalie Smith, founder & CCO of Galvanic Works, says: “Every sailor knows the problem, your boat has a dozen alarms that all sound the same. At 3am, you can’t tell if it’s critical or trivial. So you either ignore it or leave the cockpit to check – neither is safe.”
“I have brought several hi-tech products to market over my career,” says Piero Zucchelli, founder & CEO of Galvanic Works. “Galvanic Voice is the one I am most proud of – taking sophisticated science and technology from particle physics, robotics and AI to the pleasure sailing boat, and to the safety of the people on board.”
Each order placed during the launch window includes six Galvanic Pulse crew bracelets at no additional cost – two as standard plus four during pre-order.
Galvanic Works is founded, privately held and entirely financed by experienced sailors, the company is headquartered in Llubí, Mallorca (Balearic Islands), Spain, with the express purpose of improving the safety of pleasure sailors.
