Yachtneeds launches ‘Amazon for yachting’ marketplace
Launching at Metstrade (METS) next month, Yachtneeds marketplace is a custom-built platform that brings together 100s of local, superyacht-specific sellers on one, easy-to-use and secure website.
The company claims the platform will change and simplify how the superyacht community shops. Crew will be able to search through 1,000s of superyacht-specific products on the marketplace by attributes such as part code, barcode or manufacturer, or select from one of hundreds of categories related to each department onboard.
At METS, visitors will be able to see a live demonstration and have the chance to talk with the team (hall 7, booth 458).
One or many products from multiple suppliers can be added to the cart, and crew can ask for and manage quotations sending their request to multiple sellers at the same time. Payment is via the secure online system, and there are different shipment options, including pick up or delivery to the port office or direct to the vessel, regardless location.
According to the developer, entire product catalogues can be uploaded, so trusted superyacht suppliers can benefit from an online store without any of the cost involved with building and maintaining their own e-commerce solution. Sellers also have free marketing exposure both on the website and via Yachtneeds’ social media and digital marketing avenues.
The team of 17 people behind Yachtneeds marketplace includes ex crew, customer service experts, IT specialists and designers which, the company says, give it the knowledge and experience to grow and evolve into the go-to resource for every department and yacht size within yachting.
Tony Stout, ex first mate and founder, explains: “This is by no means a small project. We have been discussing and planning for many years now and we started to transform the idea into reality a year and a half ago. We know this is a long-term journey and will be continually evolving the marketplace so that it is suited to every walk of life onboard yachts of all sizes.
“Our focus is on giving local sellers a global stage to showcase their products, while making sure that what crew order is what they receive, at the right price and delivered in the right location. We want to make the process of ordering products simple, cost and time efficient. It has been a long time in the making but we are finally ready and extremely excited to present a platform which is in our opinion, totally outside the toy box of yachting and completely innovative.
